Hangu mosque blast kills five

HANGU: Five people were killed and another seven injured when a bomb exploded in a mosque in Tull tehsil of Hangu on Saturday, police said.

Hangu District Police Officer Sajjad Khan told Daily Times the bomb went off at about 4pm during prayers in the Sewa Gul Mosque in the Mohallah Tandaroo Sunni neighbourhood. Two of the dead were children, the police official told Reuters. The blast damaged the walls of the place for ablution and the roof caved in. Several worshippers were buried under the debris. A witness told Daily Times that five people had died and eight injured. “It was a timed device planted in the mosque premises,” local official Afzal Khan told AFP. But police said they could not comment on the nature of the bomb before the debris was cleared. saboor khan
